What happens after 17 years? Once you've been a Cyprus tax resident for more than 17 of the past 20 years, non-dom status ends. Thanks to the 2026 tax reform, you then pay only 5% SDC on dividends from profits earned from 2026 onwards (previously 17%), plus the usual 2.65% health contribution — 7.65% in total. Profits earned before 2026, distributed by the end of 2031, still fall under the old 17% rate. The 15% corporate tax rate doesn't change, and the non-dom period can also be extended.

Figures above are indicative and based on standard 2026 rates. Your effective tax burden depends on your structure, activities and tax residency — we're happy to work this out with you.

Why entrepreneurs choose Cyprus

It's not just about tax. It's the combination that makes the difference.

Full EU membership

Cyprus has been an EU member since 2004 and joined the eurozone in 2008. You operate within the same internal market, with the same freedoms of goods, services and capital as from the Netherlands.

A legal system based on British common law

Contracts, dispute resolution and company law follow a system international entrepreneurs already recognise. English is the working language for commercial law and most government bodies.

Fast, straightforward incorporation

A private limited company is typically registered with the Registrar of Companies within a week. A local bank account and VAT number usually follow within a few weeks.

Lower operating costs, higher quality of life

Office space, staff and cost of living tend to be lower than in the Netherlands, while the climate — around 340 sunny days a year — supports your team's wellbeing.
